Field Trip

Discover organic cotton production: Join the optional field visit

Location: Aydın, Türkiye
Date: 4 June 2026

We invite registered participants attending the Summit to join an exclusive field visit in the picturesque Aegean region of Aydın, Türkiye. This one-day experience offers a hands-on look at organic cotton farming and its positive impact on soil health, biodiversity, and farmer resilience.

Why attend?
This field visit offers a unique opportunity to experience an in-depth, practical understanding of organic cotton production in Türkiye. Hosted locally by Akasya, OCA’s trusted field partner, the visit will take you to a certified organic cotton farm during the early growing season.
Here’s what you can expect:

•    Farm visit: Walk through an organic cotton field and see how organic and regenerative practices are applied on the ground. This visit offers a closer look at the local production context and the realities of farming.

•    Farmer dialogue: Meet and speak directly with a local farmer. You'll hear about their day-to-day experiences, the challenges they face as well as what it takes to make organic cotton farming viable on the long term.

•    Ginning facility tour: Follow cotton's journey beyond the farm by visiting a local ginning facility, where seed cotton is separated and prepared to become fiber. Seeing the process helps understanding the essential role of ginning and the importance of collaboration across the value chain, a key theme of the Organic Cotton Summit.

Who should join?
This experience is ideal for brands, retailers, manufacturers, farmers, producers, and other value chain stakeholders from across the globe who want to deepen their understanding of farm-level realities in Türkyie and how sourcing decisions connect with on-the-ground outcomes.
